Fifth House Ensemble – Residences
Music composition residency activities impact participants’ personal agency, empowerment, collective decision making, and creativity through the creation of compositions rooted in their own personal narrative.
Residencies culminate in performances that bring participants’ works and experiences to a broader public.
Founded in 2005, Fifth House Ensemble (5HE) taps the collective spirit of chamber music to create engaging performance and interactive educational programs, forging meaningful partnerships with unexpected venues, artists of other disciplines, educational institutions, and audiences of every type.
With the Envisioning Justice initiative funding, Fifth House presents a 16-week residency within the JTDC (Juvenile Temporary Detention Center), serving 60 students ages 10-17, in which participants score compositions based on their personal narratives and present them in two performances.
5HE also collaborates with Storycatchers Theatre’s 24-week residency program, adding music composition curriculum and performance.
